Don't get roped into thinking every pendant necklace is a 'lariat.' This is a lariat. Lariats are, uh, l-o-n-g—with lots of pendants. This magnificent lariat is 34-inches long—and that's not even counting the additional 8-inches that those last three impressive pendants add to the total hang length. This baby should hang down nearly two-feet from the back of one's neck. What really sets this lariat apart is the late Gilbert Tom's intricately hand-stamped, wide flange silversmithing on 11 of the pendants. Of course the 18 colorful (counting the earrings) ribbon turquoise cabochons are nice as well. Gilbert had finished only the necklace before he was seriously injured after slipping on his icy front steps and had to be flown from the reservation to an Albuquerque hospital. Robert Shakey, who at one time worked side-by-side with Gilbert, stepped-up to make the set complete by creating the matching earrings for it—using stones set-aside for the purpose. Both the necklace and the earrings are hallmarked by their respective makers. Weight of this amazing, real-deal lariat is 220-grams, or 7.76-ounces. The price of such stellar Native-American jewelry as this has increased a lot since the Drifter aquired this piece. Complimentary USPS tracked Priority shipping within the U.S. Enjoy!
