Don't get roped into thinking every pendant necklace is a lariat. This is a lariat. Lariats are, uh, l-o-n-g. 'With lots of pendants. This magnificent lariat is 34-inches long—not even counting the additional 8-inches those last three impressive pendants add to the total hang length. This baby should hang down nearly two-feet from the back of one's neck. What really sets this lariat apart is Gilbert Tom's trademark, intricately hand-stamped, wide flange-work on 11 of the pendants. Of course the 18 colorful (counting the earrings) ribbon turquoise cabochons are very nice as well. Gilbert had finished this necklace when he was seriously injured by ice on his stoop and had to be hospitalized. Robert Shakey, who at one time worked side-by-side with Gilbert, stepped-up to make the set complete by creating matching earrings for it—using stones set-aside for the purpose. Both the necklace and the earrings are hallmarked by their respective makers. Weight of this amazing, real-deal lariat is 220-grams, or 7.76-ounces. The price of such stellar Native-American jewelry has increased a lot since the Drifter aquired this years ago. It's a heckuva buy at the price above.
