The naja has a long history in Dine' culture and lore. Some say it originated from the breastplate on the Spanish Conquistadors' horses. It was explained by the Dine' to the Drifter that when the naja is worn so that it hangs down from the neck over one's center core, the outward shape of the naja serves as a perimeter obstacle to evil that might enter into one's soul. Meanwhile, the small opening at the bottom allows goodness to travel up and into one's center core—thus ensuring goodness, calmness and peace. This Naja has 7 colorful Kingman turquoise stones; is solid backed (we don't deal in 'hollowback' jewelry) and is made by a well-known Navajo artisan. We acquire a few of these awhile back and this is the last one. It's over a quarter-inch thick with tall settings and domed turquoise. Not counting the bale it is 1.5-inches long, and counting the bale it is a little over 2-inches long. Width is an inch-and-a-half as well. It ships with an 18 or 20-inch solid Sterling box chain. Hallmarked "ROBERT SHAKEY" in all caps. Free USPS tracked Priority shipping within the U.S.
